Difference Between Kinnow and Orange.

Difference Between Kinnow and Orange.

The Orange fruit as we know it is a juicy citrus fruits with sections that we can pick up and eat once peeled. Orange juice is a favourite with both kids and adults together and this fruit is considered a god send in hot and humid weather conditions where it acts as a vitamin C, glucose, and fructose supplement to help keep the body cool and metabolized even in the harshest of conditions.

Now what would make us say that the Kinnow is different? Well, think of the Kinnow as the foreign cousin of the ‘desi orange’. The Kinnow has thicker skin, which makes it a smarter option to transport instead of the Orange. The Kinnow fruit is packed with Vitmain C just like the orange but some studies show that it might contain higher content of Vitamins and Glucose than the Orange making it a better choice. It is not as easy to section off as the orange but can be eaten by cutting the fruit into half and digging into it with a spoon. The juice content of a Kinnow is higher than that of an Orange making it a favourite citrus in the cold pressed juicing industry and also at home. The Kinnow is easier to juice and tastes a lot like the Orange but has a subtle sweetness to it which comes from the fact that originally a Kinnow is a hybrid of an Orange and a Malta.

Bilogically speaking an Orange is a hybrid of the citrus maxima and the citrus reticulata while the Kinnow is a hybrid of the citrus nobilis and the citrus deliciosa.
